Product Spotlight | EltaMD Sunscreens

Summertime is around the corner, and that means more time outside enjoying the beautiful Texas weather. Along with these fun activities comes the responsibility of knowing the sun’s effect on your skin and, potentially, your health.

Choosing the right sunscreen for your skin type can be a tedious process, and the plethora of options available in the sunscreen aisle at your local grocery or drug store can seem overwhelming. One go-to for many dermatologists and skincare experts has always been EltaMD, a great line of sunscreens with incredible protection and benefits for your skin.

Think Zinc

EltaMD constantly reiterates the importance of “Thinking Zinc” when picking your sunscreen. Zinc oxide has the ability to protect you from UVA1, UVA2, and UVB rays. This leaves your skin safer from the harmful contributors of everything from wrinkles and skin aging to skin cancer. Zinc oxide also promises Broad-Spectrum, which also truly combats the harmful effects of the sun.

The EltaMD Line-Up

EltaMD UV Clear   SPF 46

EltaMD’s UV Clear is a Broad-Spectrum sunscreen that offers a light non-greasy layer of sun protection to your skin. This sunscreen blends in very well and is a great all-around sunscreen option. It is a good fit for Acne-prone skin, those with rosacea, or skin with hyperpigmentation. This is great as a daily facial sunscreen that is extremely lightweight and great to put on before make-up.

EltaMD UV Sport SPF 50

EltaMD’s UV Sport is aptly named as a good option for those who are actively involved in sports or outdoor activities. This Broad-Spectrum sunscreen has a higher zinc content for extra protection. Its texture is a bit thicker, designed to avoid dripping and running into the eyes when sweating during activity. This is a great option for those exercising outdoors or for children on vacation, by the pool or on the beach.

EltaMD UV Physical SPF 41

EltaMD’s UV Physical is one of the more exciting offerings from EltaMD’s sun care line. This is great to keep the face looking fresh and natural during those warm spring and summer months. This Broad-Spectrum sunscreen has a slight tint with an elegant feel and even spread. The UV Physical is my choice for daily sunscreen. Whether with your kids at all-day soccer tournaments, or just heading to work, it’s a great option as it acts as my base when applying makeup or as a standalone. It’s also great for those who have Melasma, which is helped extremely by the sunscreens formula and tinted cream.

EltaMD’s UV Aero Spray SPF 45

EltaMD’s UV Aero is another generally fantastic sunscreen that comes in an aerosol container, making it easy for quick coverage on the body. “I often recommend a spray sunscreen for men,” says Dr. Miriam Hanson, a board-certified Dermatologist in Austin, TX. “As much as I preach sun protection and wearing sunscreen, I find guys just don’t like to put cream on their bodies.” The lightweight spray is easy to apply and absorbs quickly. This Broad-Spectrum sunscreen is always great to take with you on the go and can offer beneficial shielding from the UVA and UVB rays that can damage the skin.

There are plenty of sunscreen options for each type of person, whether athletic, acne-prone or for those wanting to keep their face looking natural and healthy.
