Can Dermal Fillers Give You The Lips You Want?

If you are considering having your lips enhanced, you have several options. But what is the best therapy for lip enhancement/augmentation? Whether it’s fuller lips or a more defined lip line, when you want your lips to look natural and feel more natural, you need to find the best possible solution.

Beautiful Perfect Lips. Sexy Mouth Closeup“Successful lip enhancement requires finding the right product in order to achieve your desired look and feel,” says Dr. Miriam Hanson, dermatologist and cosmetic expert at Sanova Dermatology in Austin. Some of the most common fillers for the face are Belotero, Juvederm, and Restylane. All of them help to restore volume, smooth out wrinkles and fine lines, and (in this case) plump lips.

Juvederm is a dermal filler, which consists of a smooth gel that works by restoring hyaluronic acid in the skin. This creates the plump look of your lips, and you will see results instantly and for up to you a year. “This filler is commonly used for the lips, because it can deliver a fuller look, along with softness and a natural feeling,” says Dr. Hanson.

“For a more defined lip line, Restylane can also provide beautiful results,” says Dr. Hanson. This slightly stiffer hyaluronic acid-based filler is also popular for lip augmentation. It is able to plump thin lips and keep its hold in this area of expression and particularly high motion.

Additionally, because this treatment isn’t permanent, you’ll be able to decide from treatment to treatment which filler you’d like to use, or what would be best for you. And if you find that your lips were enhanced too much or not enough, you can easily adjust the treatment for next time.

Of course, you also have options for permanent lip augmentation, like fat grafting and even an implant. However, these may not look or feel very natural. Additionally, a permanent implant in your lips is difficult to remove. As you age, your lips change and so your mouth may begin to look odd leaving you potentially unhappy.

If you are looking to enhance the look of your lips, then you should consider using dermal fillers. The ability to customize the size of your lips and achieve a great look and feel, you’ll be happy you didn’t try to go with a permanent option.
