Employee Spotlight – The Calm & Cool Jenny
Jenny has been with Sanova Dermatology for almost two years, and she is known for her smile and peace that she embodies daily. As a Registered Nurse, Jenny is very knowledgeable about the practices of a medical office including patient care and surgery protocols. A valuable resource and a very humble (and fun) person, Jenny is someone that is truly valued by the staff and patients at Sanova Dermatology!
What do you enjoy about your job?
Derm is so fun. I like patient education! I enjoy putting patients at ease and making sure they know what to expect and are comfortable during their surgeries. I also enjoy following patients before, during, and after treatment and educating them so they can have the best outcome.
What have you learned about patient care at Sanova Dermatology?
Before working at Sanova I didn’t realize how important it is to get your skin checked regularly. Skin cancer is very common, and is MUCH easier to treat if caught early.
What do you find most interesting about Mohs Micrographic Surgery for Skin Cancer removal?
I like to see the whole process – from the pre-op screening, to the surgical procedure, to the slide preparation and mapping, and the final repair. Many small but important steps must take place for each case.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
YOGA! I’m an avid yoga practitioner and teacher. Try it- it’ll change your life! I also like to run, read, cook, and check out the many fun places to eat in Austin.
Any travel plans in the near future?
London in June, maybe Denver in August, I also need to get back to my homeland MN soon!
What is your favorite place to eat in Austin?
Tacodeli. Dona sauce is the best! Good thing they’re not open for dinner or I’d really have a problem.
What is a skincare tip that you live by?
Prevention – Invest money and time on products and sunscreen now, or pay for laser treatment later!
