What was your favorite aspect of medical school?
My favorite aspect of medical school was learning every detail of how the human body functions as well as rotating through the different medical specialties. The field of dermatology is much more than just skin. I use this knowledge of other specialties daily when treating skin conditions, and always take a holistic approach to my patients.
What do you enjoy about the field of Dermatology?
I love the diversity of the things I see in dermatology. It’s always interesting to me how skin problems affect not only my patients health, but also their well being. From acne, rashes, cancer, cosmetics, and everything in between, there is so much to our field. The skin is a window to many internal ailments and a dermatologist is trained to know these signs. More than anything, putting my patients at ease and offering solutions to problems is really what makes me most happy and gratified.
What are your favorite procedures?
Skin surgery, such as removing skin cancers or cysts, and cosmetic injections are some of my favorite procedures. A rewarding aspect of dermatology is the variety of skin procedures we perform and the immediate result they deliver. I particular enjoy using Juvederm Voluma because of how effective it is for mid-face rejuvenation. I’ve found Kybella phenomenal for eliminating stubborn double chins and full necks. Both are easy non-surgical approaches that help patients look refreshed.
Are there any skincare products that you use and would suggest?
As a dermatologist, sunscreen and sun protection is a must. Then a retinoid and antioxidant are other must-haves in your skin tool-kit. My go to in this Texas sunshine when I’m active is the Elta MD Aero UV Spray which holds up in this heat. The Elta MD Physical Block with Tint facial sunscreen is my daily wear sunscreen. Skinceuticals C E Ferulic is my favorite antioxidant. Neocutis Lumiere eye cream is excellent for fine lines and dark cirlces. I also just started using RevitaLash for my eyelashes and I am a fan so far!
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I love food and really enjoy trying all of Austin’s restaurants (it’s hard to keep up!) and cooking at home. Good thing with all this food I enjoy working out as well, and you can often find me running Lady Bird Lake or doing yoga. I have a newfound interest in photography. I’m also lucky to have family in Austin, and enjoy spending my free time with them.
What is something that you have achieved that you are extremely proud of?
Joining Sanova Dermatology! I’m very proud to be part of Team Sanova. Also, I’m proud of running several half marathons and spearheading a few non-for-profit organizations and volunteer events in the past.
What have you enjoyed about working at Sanova so far?
I love how comprehensive and well-rounded this practice is! Sanova offers solutions for all kinds of skin conditions and problems. From skin preventative measures, photo-aging treatment, cosmetics, skin cancer surgery including Mohs surgery to acne, eczema, psoriasis, autoimmune skin disease and more – we cover it all. We offer phototherapy, lasers, CoolSculpting, chemical peels, facials, and skin care products. Most of all, the staff and the patients here have made working a true pleasure, and I am honored to be part of Team Sanova!
What exciting things are coming up for you in the near future?
I just got engaged so I am very excited to start planning for a wedding in the near future! I also will be hosting a “Bridal Boot Camp” monthly series of tips on how to get your skin ready for a wedding. Stay tuned for blogs, videos, and more! I can’t wait to share this process with my patients and hopefully help many bride-to-be’s (or anyone wanting a skin boot camp) through this series.
