Helyn Alvarez, MD
Helyn Alvarez, MD is a board-certified medical and cosmetic dermatologist who provides exceptional care for her patients at SBA Dermatology in Houston, Texas. Her areas of expertise include adult dermatology, surgical dermatology, and aesthetic dermatology.
Dr. Alvarez completed her undergraduate studies at Boston University in Boston, Massachusetts. Dr. Alvarez earned her medical degree and internship training from Loyola Stritch School of Medicine in Chicago, Illinois. She completed her dermatology residency at the University of Alabama-Birmingham.
During her residency, Dr. Alvarez was awarded the medallion award for ranking in the top 2% of providers at UAB, the highest award for exceptional patient care and patient satisfaction. She also completed a fellowship in dermatology clinical research in which she participated in over 25 clinical trials to bring new treatments to market.
Some of her interests in medical dermatology include the diagnosis and treatment of psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, acne, skin cancer, and skin of color. She also has a great eye for aesthetics utilizing neuromodulators (like Botox® and Dysport®), fillers (like Restylane®, Juvéderm®, Belotero®, and Radiesse®), chemical peels, and more. She stays up to date with the newest treatments in medical and cosmetic dermatology.
She looks forward to meeting new patients and providing the best care. She is fluent in Spanish.
In her spare time, Dr. Alvarez loves traveling and tasting new local eats.
