What is Xeomin?

Hear about the “new Botox”? Wondering what people mean by the ‘naked’ toxin?  Xeomin® is the new kid on the ‘block’, here to join the ranks of BOTOX® Cosmetic and Dysport®. Xeomin® can be used for a wide array of cosmetic treatments, such as smoothing out the forehead lines, eliminating crow’s feet, and softening the folds between the eyes. Xeomin® blocks the activities of muscles, causing the muscles to relax and cease contracting, and allowing for a smooth appearance without the frowns or folds.

Xeomin® is injected into specific facial muscles, causing them to contract less forcefully and relax the lines on the face and lose their definition. It also helps new wrinkles and folds from developing by stalling those contractions and muscle overuse, not allowing the muscles to memorize the movement.

Xeomin® is a purified product, without many of the additional proteins found in other products such as BOTOX®. For this reason, some people have referred to Xeomin® as the ‘naked’ Xeomin®. Some anecdotal reports suggest that the purified product in Xeomin® is effective in individuals that develop a tolerance to Botox®.

xeominThe use of Xeomin® does not completely stop your facial movements. Paralyzing the muscles and losing expression is something patients always ask about and the providers at Sanova Dermatology take a very conservative approach to Xeomin®  treatments, halting unwanted lines and creases on the face while preserving the natural expressions that make the face so attractive.

During your consultation at Sanova Dermatology, the professional staff will answer all your questions and advise you on additional options for facial rejuvenation. For example, you may want to compliment your Xeomin® Cosmetic treatments with dermal fillers to improve the appearance of wrinkles and creases in other areas of your face, or to enhance your lips. The combined results can be nothing short of stunning!

Both women and men can enjoy the results from Xeomin®, as it relaxes your upper-face and gives you the fresh look that you have been waiting for. The effects of Xeomin® can be seen as early as 3-4 days after injection, with full effects following around the 2-3 week period.

Getting Xeomin Injections in Newport News, VA is something that you should consult with your doctor or dermatologist about. Asking questions is always the best way to stay informed of current options for any medical or cosmetic treatment.
