Nefertiti Neck Lift

The result is similar to a 'mini-lift' just without the risks, downtime and cost of surgery.

The neck is a unique area on the body — long and slender, often decorated and accessorized, contributing and highlighting our jawline and in many ways framing our face. But the neck skin is often neglected and over time, and loss of elasticity and skin volume, inevitable parts of the aging process, can affect the neck sometimes even greater than other areas of the face and body.

Neck skin is thin compared to other areas of the body. As well, the neck’s platysma muscle – a broad muscular sheet that lies just under the skin and extends from the lower part of the jaw to the upper part of the chest – is continually pulling downward and contracting with every movement and turn of the head. This continuous stretching of the skin, combined with the daily bombardment of damaging UV rays and gravity, can result in discoloration, textural changes, as well as loose and sagging skin.

Furthermore, the platysma muscle loosens and becomes detached with time. A natural fat pad under the platysma can protrude through the stretched skin and muscle, leaving the neck appearing full and thick, and significantly softening the definition of the jawline.

For the longest time the answer was surgery. But a traditional neck-lift is no longer the only option! Non-surgical neck lifting is now a reality and a number of techniques are available to treat some of the common signs of neck aging.

Nefertiti Neck Lift and Rejuvenation Process

face _8Our Austin dermatologists use Intense pulse light treatments and laser resurfacing to combat pigment and textural changes in the neck skin. Sun and liver spots, freckles, broken blood vessels and skin conditions like poikiloderma can be easily remedied with these devices.

Newer fractionated and radiofrequency devices can even tighten the neck skin, remove fine lines and wrinkles, and eliminate skin laxity. By stimulating collagen growth in the skin and restoring the skin’s elasticity, these treatments can significantly target loose and sagging skin. BOTOX® Cosmetic and Dysport® have also revolutionized the approach to neck rejuvenation. With the right technique, horizontal neck lines can be softened and vertical banding can disappear.

The Nefertiti lift can help re-define the jawline that may be lost from jowls and sagging neck skin. In fact, jowling can be a direct result of the constant downward pull of the neck’s platysma muscles. In the Nefertiti lift, the border and angle of the mandible can be lifted and defined. The corners of the mouth are elevated and the skin over the jawline is re-draped and contoured.
