miraDry® for Underarm Sweating

Do you suffer from excessive underarm sweating?

miradrymiraDry® is an innovative non-surgical procedure designed to resolve normal levels and excessive underarm sweating (known medically as underarm hyperhidrosis). Many of our miraDry® patients at Sanova Dermatology have dealt with the irritation and embarrassment that can accompany underarm sweat for much of their lives. miraDry® is a non-invasive procedure that can actually eliminate the sweat glands that are the root of this problem. This treatment can provide permanent treatment for this common condition while improving your overall quality of life.

Benefits of miraDry®

Approved by the FDA, miraDry® has proven to be effective for the treatment of excessive underarm sweat. The unique benefits of miraDry® can include:

  • Elimination of underarm sweat glands
  • Zero incisions
  • Little to no downtime
  • Immediate and permanent results
  • No compensatory sweating
  • Reduced dependency on antiperspirants
  • Boost in confidence

While most patients experience the advantages of miraDry® after one treatment, patients with severe hyperhidrosis may require an additional treatment to maximize the benefits. During the consultation process, our experienced dermatologists can design a custom-tailored treatment plan that can meet your needs and expectations.

The miraDry® Procedure

miradry_noback_598x400The miraDry® procedure uses electromagnetic energy to heat – and ultimately eliminate – underarm sweat glands. After administering a local anesthetic, your dermatologist will guide a hand piece over the treatment area. To maximize your comfort, miraDry® also employs a cooling system, and the treatment is typically completed within one hour. miraDry® can effectively treat hyperhidrosis in patients of all skin colors, providing a permanent solution to unwanted underarm sweat.

Recovery and Results

Oftentimes, the results from your miraDry® treatment will be immediate, and you will no longer perspire from the armpits. Our dermatologists remind patients that while the body does use sweat to moderate and maintain its temperature, underarm sweat glands comprise only two percent of all perspiration glands and should not negatively impact your health. miraDry® is an outpatient procedure, and most patients return to their normal daily lives immediately after their treatment. Our dermatologists recommend patients avoid certain physical activities in the days immediately following treatment, and will review post-procedural instructions in detail during the consultation process. Some patients will experience mild swelling or bruising after their procedure, though these side effects typically resolve within days to weeks.
