Keep Your Skin Merry & Bright This Holiday Season

It is easy to get carried away with shopping, family, and work during the holidays. But, it is important to not let that get in the way of taking care of yourself and your skin! Here are a few tips to keep your skin merry and bright during the holidays!

Moisturize

Regular use of moisturizer will discourage dry and flaky skin, and enhance a beautiful complexion! The colder weather has the ability to remove the moisture from the skin, which can cause redness and irritation. “Moisturizing twice a day, in the morning and at night, can replenish that much needed moisture to the skin,” says Dr. Hanson. Let’s just say you will have the most radiant skin around!

Out With The Old!

Help slough off the extra skin cells and brighten your look. Exfoliation is great for keeping your skin smooth, as well as preparing the skin for any skincare products you use! “You definitely have to find your individual regimen,” notes Dr. Hanson. Whether you use exfoliating products, chemical peels, a Clarisonic or microneedling, some patients do not require as much exfoliation as others. “Too much exfoliation can exacerbate dry skin or rosacea.”  It is important to make sure that you are not over exfoliating on a daily basis, to avoid irritation and redness!

The Key is C

Many serums contain the ever-glowing powers of Vitamin C, and it could be the key to you having the wondrous and bright skin you are hoping for! “Vitamin C is a potent antioxidant and has the ability to combat free radicals, unstable molecules that can damage the skin,” mentions Sanova Dermatology’s Aesthetician Amy Bowen. Quenching free radicals before they lead to uneven tone and texture, or fine lines is a great anti-aging strategy for the skin. The vitamin can also aid collagen induction allowing for the skin to retain its youthful and plump appearance!
