Coolsculpting Answers: How Many Treatments Will I Need? How Long Does It Last?

CoolSculpting_688If you want to help eliminate problem areas that you’ve been struggling with for a long time, then you need to consider CoolSculpting. This procedure is not only FDA approved, but also an effective way of treating those problems areas that aren’t affected by diet and exercise. “We are really seeing this as an alternative to surgical procedures like liposuction, without the downtime and risks,” says Dr. Miriam Hanson, board certified dermatologist and cosmetic physician at Sanova Dermatology.

A few questions you may ask yourself is, how long does the coolsculpting procedure last and how many treatments are needed?

How CoolSculpting Works

Coolsculpting penetrates your skin and targets fat cells. These specific fat cells are frozen, and therefore they will die. After they die they are processed by your body and are naturally eliminated. “This means that you are able to target very specific parts of your body and eliminate the fat areas that you wish to be removed,” says Dr. Hanson. This procedure is not painful and does not have any serious side effects. Because this procedure is non-surgical, there is no significant downtime for you.

Additionally, you and your doctor can decide on how many areas you want to sculpt, depending on how much of a change you are looking for. Once you have eliminated those fat cells, they are gone for good.

How Many Treatments

The CoolSculpting procedure time may vary depending on how many areas you are treating at once. But the procedure is a very relaxing one. Often times you are able to read, send emails, or even close your eyes and relax.

The number of sessions will vary depending on your individual needs. “Each session eliminates 20 to 25% of the fat in the treated area,” explains Dr. Hanson. You can see results after one visit, but if you are looking for more dramatic change, then you and your dermatologist will determine the customized treatment plan that is right for you.
