Jeffrey C. Poole, MD
Dr. Poole received his undergraduate education from the University of Virginia. He earned his medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine, while on a full scholarship from the United States Air Force. Following medical school, he completed an internship and residency in Pediatrics at Keesler AFB Regional Medical Center. His tour of duty included being stationed at Charleston AFB, South Carolina, where he was Chief of Pediatrics for 2 years. Dr. Poole then performed a residency in Dermatology at the LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans, during which he was selected to be Chief Resident. He has attained the highest level of accreditation in his specialty and is Board Certified by the American Board of Dermatology.
In addition to his private practice, Dr. Poole is also an Assistant Clinical Professor of Dermatology at both the LSU and Tulane Schools of Medicine, acting as their Pediatric, Adolescent, and Laser specialist, and remains a Board Certified Pediatrician. Dr. Poole has served as Chief of Dermatology and was the Founder, Director, and Laser Specialist for the Vascular Anomalies Center – Children’s Hospital New Orleans. Dr. Poole is a published medical author and has given numerous talks on a wide range of topics at regional and local society meetings. Teaching medical students and residents continues to be one of his strong areas of interest. He maintains a high level of continuing medical education activity as demonstrated by being awarded both the American Medical Association’s Physician Recognition Award with Commendation and the American Academy of Dermatology’s Continuing Medical Education Award. He has been recognized locally by both New Orleans Magazine and Louisiana Life Magazine as a Top Doc in his field. Top Doc every year since 2009-2024 for Castle Connely —AND for both Louisiana Life and New Orleans Magazine.
He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery, the American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery and the Society for Pediatric Dermatology. He is a member and Past-President of the Louisiana Dermatologic Society. He has been recognized annually since 2011 for both Dermatology and Pediatric Dermatology by New Orleans and Louisiana Life magazines.
